The Indian gooseberry, also known as “Amalaka” in Sanskrit is from a deciduous tree of the Euphorbiaceae family. Has botanical name Phyllanthus emblic or Emblica officinalis. Amla contain useful key constituents like Diterpenes, Flavonoids, Polyphenols, Alkaloids, Benzenoids and antioxidants like ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It works as an antioxidant vitamin to fights signs of external and internal ageing. Amla is reputed to be useful in alopecia and adds luster and strength to the hair. Shikakai means “fruit for hair” and is a traditional shampoo used in India. It is made from Acacia concinna, a shrub native to the warm, plains of central and south India. Shikakai extract, on hydrolysis yields lupeol and spinasterol and acacic acid lactone, and the sugars like glucose, arabinose and rhamnose. It also contains hexacosanol and spinasterone. Olive is a fruit obtained from the olive Olea europaea family Oleaceae, a traditional tree crop of the Mediterranean Basin.
